About me

I’m Simon, father of two endlessly energetic (and noisy!) young boys, lover of cinema and books, avid traveller exploring new cultures and interesting places, and pretty damned obsessive about good cheese.

I’ve been creating websites as the founder / managing director / tech architect of digital agency Studio 24 for the past 19 years. I also organise local community group PHP Cambridge. I regularly attend industry conferences such as dConstruct, Brooklyn Beta, PHP North West and PHP Yorkshire and have been very happy to contribute to community projects such as the Web Standards Project and Zend Framework.

At Studio 24 my day-to-day work is heavily involved with managing the agency, supporting and mentoring my team, finding new and interesting clients, consulting on technical projects, advising clients on digital strategy and experimenting with new technology. I’m kept pretty busy if truth be told!

Web-wise I’m interested in an open web, UX, web standards, accessibility, good application development (PHP, JavaScript and HTML5), CMSs and the challenges of content strategy, and making great websites that work for all users.

I’m a trustee of the Cambridge Film Trust, that runs the wonderful local Cambridge Film Festival, where I’ve been lucky enough to meet interesting folk such as Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Kip Thorne and Stephen Hawking, and be exposed to the cinematic delights of Project Trident. My agency, Studio 24, has also sponsored the festival for the past 11 years.
